A save-the-date is a short early announcement that tells guests your wedding date so they can hold it, sent long before the formal invitation with the full details. The usual guidance is six to eight months ahead, or closer to a year if people will need to travel or book time off. This one is a link rather than a printed card, so it costs nothing to send and reaches everyone the same day. You enter the couple's names, write up to 400 characters, and choose from twelve designs and nine colour themes. Add the date and the card shows an Add to Google Calendar button, which is the whole point of a save-the-date, plus a map link if you name the venue. You can switch on RSVPs to start tracking numbers early, once the card is saved to an account. The headcount is free; the full guest list is Pro.
