This tool runs a real audio filter chain over your file rather than simply turning the volume up, and it offers three modes that do different things. Enhance voice, the default, rolls off rumble below 100 Hz and hiss above 12 kHz, applies compression to even out loud and quiet passages, then normalises the overall loudness to broadcast level; it does not remove background noise. Reduce background noise runs a spectral denoiser that lowers steady, constant sounds such as fan hum or air conditioning, and changes nothing else. Clean up and normalise does a lighter version of both. Files up to 100 MB are accepted in any common audio format, and the result is always an MP3 at 192 kbps. Processing happens in your browser using a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg, so your audio is never uploaded, though the engine itself downloads once on first use.
Only two of the three modes denoise. Reduce background noise runs a spectral denoiser that lowers steady sounds such as hum, hiss, and air conditioning, and Clean up and normalise applies a gentler version alongside loudness levelling. The default Enhance voice mode does not denoise at all: it filters, compresses, and normalises for clarity. Sudden noises like coughs or door slams are not removed by any mode.
It helps most with mild-to-moderate background noise and quiet or uneven voice recordings. Very heavy noise or distortion can't be fully removed.
